Podcasto Magnifico

I'm digging iTunes free exercise podcasts. My favorite routine so far:

Kim Strother's Fun Treadmill Workout:
1. Warm up - Walk at 4 mph for about 5 minutes
2. Raise incline to 10 - walk at 4mph for about 2 minutes
3. Lower incline and walk at 4mph for about 1 minute
4. Speed up to 6.5 mph or more for a 2 minute sprint.
5. Bring speed back down to 4 mph and catch your breath.
6. Lower speed to 2 mph and do side steps for 1 minute then switch sides for another minute.
7. Repeat 3 more times.

This makes the time go by super fast and it's a really good workout.

"The Biggest Loser" = Me

Yes, I am the biggest loser (literally). Why? Because every time I watch "The Biggest Loser" I am either chanting "Go, Helen, go!", screaming "C'mon Joelle! Just do it!", or crying because somebody fell or got voted off.

But seriously...I do love this show. I love that it actually helps people rather than merely contributing to the massive community of mediocre singers, dancers, etc. (no offense "Idol" and **"SYTYCD", I love you, too) while (most importantly) entertaining me.

Go Blue Team!!!

Mikey Scare

Our little Mikey gave us quite the scare. We thought we were going to lose him. He wasn't moving, he had a pile of drool under his face and was not reacting to anything. Not knowing how old Mikey is, hubby and I have been expecting him to go any time. So, we took an hour to say good-bye to him before taking him to the vet.
Good news: Mikey is still with us.
Bad news: Mikey's arthritis was so bad, he just couldn't bring himself to move anymore. Not even to drink water.
More good news: Although Mikey is NOT getting better, the pain killers seem to be working and I haven't seen him happier in months! He's doing great and hopefully his last few months/years with us will be good ones! Here's just a little of what he's going through:

Degenerative arthritic hip.
Degenerative arthritic spine fused to his tailbone.
2 bad arthritic knees.
Neural damage (probably due to the arthritis in his spine), that is making it so he doesn't quite know where his back feet are all the time.
Probably has had hip dysplasia since he was a puppy.

What a trooper he is!

"Words" I hate:

Okay - so slang is getting ridiculous! There are two "words" that I can think of that I have no fondness for (to put it mildly):

"Whatev" short for whatever - obviously
"Krunked" meaning crazy drunk.

Stupid, stupid, stupid words!!! Am I getting too old??? I want your comments! Which slang words really get to you???

Okay

Sooo....I'm finding that all I do on my blog is post pictures - they're worth a thousand words, right? I find it's easier then coming up with witty things to say. I mean, who do I think I am? Sarah Jessica Parker's writers? All I know is that it's 2:00 in the morning on Saturday and I've been working on this thing since abut 10:30. Time goes by fast when you're blogging (or if you're me...posting a plethora of pics).

With that, I bid adieu!

Dancing with a homey

I think I can pull off a fedora. :)

And after a LONG day of walking around on the strip - time to wash off your feet! It's dirty out there!

Craig and I woke up one morning not too long ago and found our backyard like this:

The Adventure's of Brushing Mikey

No, there are NOT two dogs in this picture - what you're seeing is Mikey and his pile of fur after being brushed - I'm not kidding...

Wildlife in my very own backyard

Just a few of the living creatures I've seen in our backyard...and I only have a picture of one:
Birds (of course)
Mice (Nikki loves them)
Squirrels (She loves them too)
Deer (Yes - full grown, antlers and all - beautiful and majestic)
Quail (Mama Quail and her Quail-lets)
and.....
RATTLESNAKE!!!

Blogging

So, I told a friend of mine and hubby's that I had started a blog. When I said that it's still coming along, he compared blogging to tending a garden...it takes a lot of work to get it to blossom. How funny, I had no idea how right he was! I think I've changed the layout, format, pictures, and words at least 10 times (I've only had my blog for about 5 days now).

Shout Out

A big shout out to the people who contributed to my Humane Society fund raising efforts. I had to raise my goal because your contributions exceeded my original one:

Mom; Mikey and Craig; Matt, Andrea, Tony, Kalia and Madison; The Gristina Family; The Kennerly Family; Heather; Jinx; Christina, Miguel, Carlos, Alexis, et al; Kevin, Megan, Del, Fish, Flea, and Flo; Obie

Thanks so much for your help!

My time with BA

So, here's a quick synopsis of my short time with Barratt:
First day, meet Ashley. 3rd day, Ashley has a baby and leaves me for a few months. I get Jen set up with Gmail chat. I get to talk to Kelly twice before she leaves (but fortunately I'm cool enough to go to dinner every month - Yay!!!). We have our Christmas party. Lots of people get layed off. Ashley comes back. Hilary gives me my new name badge and I lose it 5 minutes later. More people get let go. We have to clean models and water the plants now. More people get let go (including Hilary - good day for her, sad day for us) and I get "Not Technically" layed off. I find a new job. :D

Our name

Why is it when people ask me how I pronounce my last name I say "Byu-cha-lye" and they say "BOO-cha-lye"?

How Nikki got her name

The first time I held Nikki, she fell asleep with one eye open. It reminded me of a spy, very cautious - like she didn't quite trust me. Although I've never actually seen the show, I could only think of La Femme Nikkita - so Nikkita she became.

My mother-in-law is the best!

So, a couple of weeks ago hubby and I went out to dinner with my Mother-in-Law. I called her a Bitch and she called me a Whore. Good times. (I love you Jan!)

My grandmpa, again!

My grandmpa, again!
Okay, so I lied - I have another one! I think my Uncle Lance snagged a shot of him at his last birthday. We had a wonderful dinner at a small steakhouse in Hotel Circle called Albie's, the company was better. It was a large, fun group: Lisa, Lance, Aaron, Rosa, Jo-Jean, Maxine, Craig, Kristen, and of course the guest of honor, Neal. We reminisced, laughed, ate some good food, had some wine of which grandma kept the cork (one of her many ways of keeping memories), and then laughed some more. Wish Kevin could have been there! I'm sure he feels the same way, from what I understand he didn't have a very good time that night but that's a different story. But I guess that's what happens when you miss grandpa's birthday! Hope he learned his lesson!
